Welcome to AIMday!
19 May in Vardagsrummet, the Humanities Building, Umeå University
Competition, technological development, climate challenges, economic fluctuations and skills shortages affect organisations across all sectors. During this spring’s AIMday, we explore ways of understanding and managing these changes – through dialogue between research and practice.
AIMday is a one-day event where companies and organisations set the agenda by proposing practice-oriented questions to be discussed together with researchers, within a given theme. This year’s theme is Organisations in transition. Each question is discussed for one hour in open and curious conversations where knowledge, experience and ideas come together.
Examples of topics
- Safe and secure working environments – physical and psychosocial
- Digital and technological transformation
- Environmental, economic and social sustainability
- Skills supply and lifelong learning
- Resources and change management in the public sector
This list is intended as a guide only, and additional topics are welcome.
How to participate
Your entry ticket as a company or organisation is to submit at least one question or challenge related to the theme. As a researcher, you choose which questions you would like to discuss based on your expertise. During AIMday, you will meet in small discussion groups to share your perspectives on a current issue of mutual interest.
As a company or organisation
- Submit your question by 10 March.
- Discuss each question for one hour together with researchers from Umeå University.
- If you are unable to attend in person, you can participate digitally. Please indicate this when registering, and we will contact you.
Submit questions for discussion
As a researcher
- Review the list of submitted questions between 23 March and 24 April.
- Register which questions you would like to discuss based on your research interests.
- You are welcome to participate in selected parts of the day.

Opportunity to apply for funding for continued collaboration
AIMday often provides new perspectives and valuable contacts. Occasionally, something truly clicks and the seeds of future collaborative projects begin to grow. To help you explore these ideas, the Research Support and Collaboration Office offers development funding for continued collaboration. Further details on how to apply for these seed funds will be shared during the day.
